Norcross U-13 Gold team won the 2009 Disney Soccer Showcase tournament over the Thanksgiving weekend. Coached by Paul Buckley, Norcross played attacking soccer with a solid defense, winning all three of their group qualifying games while scoring 9 goals and conceding only 1. In the semi final against Pinecrest, Norcross showed tremendous character to come back from 2 goals down early on to recover to 2-1 at half time. In the second half Norcross came out fighting and quickly levelled the score. Third and fourth goals seemed to settle the tie until Pinecrest hit back with a late goal but for them it was just too late. In the final against Brandon FC, Norcross again conceded an early goal but fought back and Ben Skinner sent the tie into extra time with a fierce shot on the turn. Norcross came out fighting in extra time and Thomas Traynham cooly converted a superb cross from Christian Perez to take the lead. There were some nervy moments in a final 10 minute onslaught from Brandon but the Norcross defense held out to win the tournament.
